Durban City midfielder made his choice about his future next season

Brooklyn Poggenpoel has opened up about his future and the South African club he would love to represent, revealing a strong personal connection to Kaizer Chiefs.

During an interview with SABC News, Poggenpoel was reportedly asked to choose between three of the country’s biggest clubs — Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. According to the scenario described, the midfielder selected Chiefs, explaining that the Soweto giants have been his childhood club and that representing them would carry special meaning for him.

Poggenpoel explained that his choice would not simply be based on the size or reputation of the club. His connection reportedly goes back to his younger years, when he followed the team and developed an admiration for the club. Having the opportunity to wear their famous colours at professional level would therefore represent the fulfilment of a childhood ambition.

The player also indicated that he would be open to making a serious commitment should such an opportunity arise. Rather than viewing a possible move as a short-term step, Poggenpoel said he could see himself signing a long-term deal and becoming part of the club’s plans for the future.

For now, however, these comments should not be interpreted as confirmation of a transfer or negotiations. No official agreement has been announced.

Should the opportunity eventually become a reality, Kaizer Chiefs would be Poggenpoel’s preferred destination, based on the account provided, with the player describing Amakhosi as his childhood club and a team he would be willing to commit his long-term future to.
