According to a close source, Kaizer Chiefs have decided to pull out of the race to sign Maxwele from Golden Arrows, bringing an end to the club’s interest in the player at this stage.
The latest development comes after internal discussions within the Kaizer Chiefs management structure, with the club reportedly assessing the player’s value and their current options in the position. While Maxwele has attracted interest because of his performances and potential, Chiefs believe that the overall valuation of the player is higher than what they are currently prepared to pay.
The club is also understood to have considered the fact that they already have several players capable of operating in the same position. With competition for places already present within the squad, management has reportedly decided that committing significant funds to another player in that position would not be the best move for the club at this moment.
The decision represents a change in direction for Kaizer Chiefs, who had previously been linked with a possible move for the Golden Arrows player. There had been growing speculation that the Amakhosi could make an approach, with supporters closely following developments surrounding the potential transfer.
However, according to the source, the club has now made its position clear and has chosen not to continue pursuing the deal. Golden Arrows are reportedly aware of the decision, meaning negotiations are no longer expected to continue under the current circumstances.
For Maxwele, the situation could now open the door for other clubs to enter the race should there be serious interest in securing his services. His future remains something to watch as the transfer window continues, particularly if another club decides to meet Golden Arrows’ valuation.
For Kaizer Chiefs, the focus is expected to shift towards other areas of the squad and potential opportunities that better fit the club’s current plans. Management will continue assessing the market before making further decisions.
At this stage, the Maxwele-to-Chiefs move is considered off, with the club choosing to walk away rather than commit to a deal they do not believe represents the right value or squad priority.
