Thembinkosi Lorch has opened up about the reason behind his recent visit to Naturena, revealing that the trip was driven by friendship, memories and a desire to reconnect with two of Kaizer Chiefs’ young stars, Mfundo Vilakazi and Mduduzi Shabalala.

Lorch explained that his visit was not simply about football or transfer speculation. Instead, he wanted to spend time with the two youngsters, whom he considers close to him. According to Lorch, it had been almost a full year since he last saw Vilakazi and Shabalala in person.
“I went there to visit my boys, Mfundo Vilakazi and Mduduzi Shabalala. I missed them. It’s been a full one year without seeing them in person.”
The visit comes at a time when Lorch’s future continues to attract attention, particularly amid reports linking him with a possible return to South African football. Recent reports have also highlighted the potential value of Lorch’s experience in helping guide Kaizer Chiefs’ emerging talents. (Goal)

Vilakazi and Shabalala are regarded as two of the exciting young players at Naturena, and their development has become an important part of discussions surrounding the club. Lorch’s relationship with the pair therefore adds another interesting dimension to his visit.
For Lorch, however, the moment appears to have been much more personal than professional. Football careers can take players to different countries and clubs, creating long periods away from friends and former teammates. His return to Naturena gave him an opportunity to reconnect with people he clearly values.
The visit is also likely to fuel further conversations among Kaizer Chiefs supporters about Lorch’s future. While his presence at Naturena may naturally generate transfer speculation, his explanation makes it clear that his primary motivation was to see his “boys” again.
Whether the visit eventually leads to anything beyond friendship remains to be seen. For now, Lorch appears to have simply enjoyed being back at Naturena and reconnecting with Mfundo Vilakazi and Mduduzi Shabalala after a long period apart.
