Kaizer Chiefs set to complete the signing of Durban City player

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly closing in on the signing of promising Durban City midfielder Brooklyn Poggenpoel, with the proposed transfer said to be at an advanced stage. The deal is understood to be around 90% complete, raising expectations that the young player could soon make the move to Naturena.

Poggenpoel has attracted attention with his performances for Durban City, establishing himself as one of the exciting young talents to emerge on the South African football scene. His technical ability, composure and potential for further development have reportedly made him an attractive option for the Soweto giants as they continue to strengthen their squad.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the potential arrival of Poggenpoel would represent another move towards building a squad capable of competing at the highest level. The club has been looking to add quality and youthful energy to its ranks, while also identifying players who can develop into important figures for the future.

The reported progress of the negotiations will certainly excite Chiefs supporters, particularly with the club continuing to reshape its squad under new head coach Fernando da Cruz. The French coach is expected to demand a competitive squad capable of challenging for major honours, and young talents such as Poggenpoel could form part of that long-term project.

However, despite the reported 90% progress, the transfer is not officially complete until the remaining negotiations, contractual matters and formal procedures have been finalised. Both clubs will still need to conclude the necessary steps before the move can be confirmed.

If everything proceeds as expected, Poggenpoel could soon be wearing the famous gold and black colours and beginning a new chapter of his career at one of South Africa’s biggest football clubs.

The deal is reportedly 90% done — with the final steps now standing between Poggenpoel and a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
