Kaizer Chiefs reportedly enjoyed a productive behind-closed-doors friendly encounter today at FNB Stadium, where Amakhosi faced National First Division (NFD) side Upington City.
The Glamour Boys delivered an impressive performance, securing a convincing 4-1 victory as preparations continue behind the scenes. The friendly provided an opportunity for the technical team to assess different combinations, evaluate players and give members of the squad valuable match minutes.
Mfundo Vilakazi was among the standout performers, finding the back of the net, while Faiz Abrahams also enjoyed an excellent outing, contributing two goals to the team’s impressive scoreline.
One of the biggest talking points, however, was the involvement of new signing Ellias Mokwana. The talented winger made his presence felt, producing an encouraging performance that included an assist and a late goal.
Mokwana’s contribution will certainly excite Amakhosi supporters, who are eager to see what the former Bafana Bafana international can bring to the team. His pace, attacking ability and creativity could provide Chiefs with another important dimension going forward.
Although friendly matches are primarily about preparation rather than results, winning by such a convincing margin will undoubtedly provide positive encouragement for the players and coaching staff.
The encounter also offered an opportunity to assess the attacking options available to the technical team, with Vilakazi, Abrahams and Mokwana all making valuable contributions.
