Kaizer Chiefs could be preparing for a significant change in their technical team following the reported termination of Fernando Da Cruz’s contract with immediate effect. According to the developing story, club chairman Kaizer Motaung has decided to appoint club legend Doctor Khumalo as the team’s interim head coach as the Amakhosi leadership looks for a way forward.
The reported decision comes after Da Cruz’s time at Naturena was brought to an end following a run of poor results that allegedly failed to meet the club’s expectations. Chiefs supporters have been demanding improvements in the team’s performances, with growing concerns about the club’s direction and its ability to compete consistently at the highest level.
If the reported appointment materialises, Khumalo would bring extensive knowledge of Kaizer Chiefs’ history, culture and expectations. A respected former player, he remains one of the most recognisable figures associated with the club and enjoys a strong connection with the Amakhosi faithful.
His potential return to the technical team could be viewed as an attempt to restore confidence, strengthen the relationship between the club and its supporters, and create greater stability during a difficult period. However, taking charge of a club with the size and expectations of Kaizer Chiefs would be a significant responsibility, particularly with supporters eager to see immediate improvements.
The interim position would also present Khumalo with an opportunity to demonstrate his leadership abilities and help the squad rediscover consistency. The team’s performances, tactical organisation, dressing-room atmosphere and ability to collect maximum points would likely be among the major areas requiring attention.
For Kaizer Chiefs, the priority must be finding a solution that delivers positive results while laying the foundation for long-term progress. The club’s supporters have remained passionate and loyal, but they want to see performances that reflect the stature of one of South Africa’s biggest football institutions.
HERE WE GO? ✍️💛🖤
Although the reported appointment has generated excitement, the claims regarding Doctor Khumalo’s appointment and Fernando Da Cruz’s contract termination should be treated as unconfirmed until officially announced by Kaizer Chiefs. Supporters will be waiting for clarity from the club regarding its coaching situation and the next steps for the team.
