Junior Khanye Questions Da Cruz Despite Chiefs’ Victory Over Siwelele

Kaizer Chiefs may have secured an important victory over Siwelele, but the result has not been enough to silence the growing criticism surrounding head coach Da Cruz.

Former Amakhosi midfielder and outspoken football analyst Junior Khanye has once again raised serious concerns about the coach’s tactical approach, arguing that the team’s defensive weaknesses remain a major problem.

Although Chiefs managed to walk away with the three points, Khanye believes the performance exposed issues that could become costly as the season progresses.

In particular, he has pointed to the number of goals Chiefs have been conceding, suggesting that the team has not yet found the defensive stability required to compete consistently at the highest level.

According to Khanye’s assessment, winning matches cannot be the only measure used to judge a coach. He believes the bigger picture must be considered, including the team’s organisation, tactical discipline, defensive structure and ability to control matches.

From his perspective, Chiefs are still conceding too many chances and showing weaknesses that need to be addressed urgently.

Khanye’s criticism also comes with a strong recommendation for the club to consider giving another coach an opportunity. He argues that if Da Cruz cannot quickly improve the team’s defensive record and overall performances, Kaizer Chiefs may have to make a difficult decision regarding the technical team.

For a club of Chiefs’ stature, expectations are naturally high. Supporters want more than occasional victories; they want a team capable of competing consistently for trophies while playing with confidence, structure and discipline. Khanye believes the current situation requires serious consideration before the problems become even more difficult to fix.

However, Da Cruz’s supporters could argue that the coach deserves time to implement his ideas and build a team according to his philosophy. A single match, whether won or lost, cannot always provide a complete picture of a coach’s ability.

The debate surrounding Da Cruz is therefore unlikely to disappear anytime soon. While the victory over Siwelele provided some relief, Khanye’s comments have ensured that questions about Chiefs’ defensive problems and the coach’s long-term future remain firmly on the agenda.
