Cedric Kaze’s future has suddenly become a major talking point among Kaizer Chiefs supporters, with speculation growing that the former Amakhosi coach could make a sensational return to Naturena as part of Fernando Da Cruz’s technical team.
Kaze left Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2025/26 season after the club decided not to renew his contract. During his time at Amakhosi, he worked alongside Khalil Ben Youssef and helped guide the club to a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership. Chiefs officially confirmed in May that both coaches had departed following the conclusion of their contracts.
The Burundian tactician subsequently took charge of Sekhukhune United ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. However, after a difficult spell and recent disappointing results, questions are now being raised about his position at Babina Noko. Kaze has already faced his former club this season, with Sekhukhune suffering a 2-0 defeat against Chiefs at FNB Stadium.
The possibility of Kaze returning to Chiefs as an assistant coach would certainly excite sections of the Amakhosi faithful. His familiarity with the players, club structure and dressing-room environment could make him an attractive option if Da Cruz decides to strengthen his technical team.
Importantly, however, there is no confirmed announcement that Kaze is returning to Chiefs, nor has there been confirmation that his current Sekhukhune situation has resulted in a completed dismissal. His Chiefs contract also ended when the club chose not to renew it, rather than remaining active.
For now, the potential reunion remains a developing story. If the opportunity arises, Kaze could once again find himself at Naturena—this time potentially working as an assistant and bringing his experience back to the club where he previously helped deliver a strong league campaign.
