Kaizer Chiefs Suffer Shock Friendly Defeat

Kaizer Chiefs Suffer Shock 3-0 Friendly Defeat to Midlands Wanderers FC

Kaizer Chiefs suffered a heavy defeat in a friendly match on Tuesday after being beaten 3-0 by Midlands Wanderers FC.

The result will come as a surprise to Amakhosi supporters, particularly with the club preparing for their upcoming Betway Premiership fixture against Richards Bay on Wednesday, 26 August. Chiefs are currently joint-top of the league after collecting seven points from their opening three matches.

The friendly provided an opportunity for the technical team to give valuable minutes to players and assess squad options ahead of the next competitive fixture. However, the 3-0 scoreline means Chiefs will have plenty to reflect on after failing to find the back of the net.

Despite the disappointing result, friendly matches are often used to test combinations, give fringe players opportunities and manage the workload of regular starters. The defeat therefore does not affect Chiefs’ league position, but it will certainly raise questions among supporters ahead of their next official match.

The Amakhosi will now turn their attention to their league clash against Richards Bay, with the match scheduled for 19:30 on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at Princess Magogo Stadium.

For Chiefs, the priority will be to put this friendly defeat behind them and respond strongly when the points are on the line. 🟡⚫
