Kaizer Chiefs Set to Secure Emile Dortley

Kaizer Chiefs appear to be taking another important step towards securing the future of one of their promising young defenders, with reports indicating that the club is working on a DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) deal for 17-year-old Emile Dortley.

Emile is the younger brother of Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana defender Rushwin Dortley, but he is increasingly making a name for himself through his own performances. The youngster has reportedly impressed the Chiefs development structures with his performances, earning an opportunity to step up to the reserve side. Emile is a versatile defender who can operate as a left-back or centre-back. Interestingly, his footballing profile bears similarities to that of his older brother Rushwin, who has established himself as a first-team player at Naturena.

The reported move to secure Emile with a DDC contract would underline Chiefs’ commitment to developing young talent and creating a pathway from the academy into the senior team. The club has continued to invest in its development structures, with the hope that talented youngsters can eventually make the step up to the first team.

Emile’s potential is not a recent discovery. During his time with Cape Town Spurs, he enjoyed success at youth level and was named Player of the Tournament at the 2025 Bayview Youth Tournament. He also helped Spurs’ Under-18 side win the Coca-Cola Amateur Cup. (Cape Town Spurs)

There has already been considerable interest in his future. Earlier in 2026, a dispute surrounding his move from Cape Town Spurs to Chiefs created complications, with an independent ruling requiring him to remain registered with Spurs for the remainder of that season unless an agreement was reached. Now, however, the focus appears to be on securing his long-term future with Amakhosi.

For Chiefs supporters, the possibility of seeing two Dortley brothers at Naturena is certainly an exciting prospect. Rushwin has already shown what can be achieved, and Emile will now be hoping to follow his brother’s footsteps while creating his own identity.

The reported DDC deal could therefore be another important milestone in what promises to be an exciting journey for the young defender.
