Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has made his position clear regarding young striker Yanela Mbuthuma, insisting that he will continue to support the talented forward and give him the opportunity to develop.
“I cannot kill a talent. I believe in him and will continue to support him for as long as I’m the Orlando Pirates coach,” Ouaddou said.
The statement represents a strong vote of confidence from the Pirates coach, particularly at a time when young players are often placed under immense pressure to deliver immediate results. Rather than allowing criticism or difficult moments to affect his judgement, Ouaddou appears determined to nurture Mbuthuma and help him reach his full potential.
Mbuthuma is regarded as a promising young striker with the qualities to become an important player for Orlando Pirates. However, like many young forwards, he needs consistent opportunities, patience and the right environment to develop his game.
Ouaddou’s backing could therefore prove important for the player’s confidence. Knowing that his coach believes in his ability can give Mbuthuma the freedom to play with greater confidence and express himself on the pitch.
For Pirates supporters, the expectation will now be on Mbuthuma to respond to that faith through his performances. Goals, hard work and consistency will ultimately be the best way for the young striker to repay the trust shown in him.
The message from Ouaddou is clear: Mbuthuma’s development remains a priority, and the coach is prepared to stand behind his talent.
The belief is there. The opportunity is there. Now it is up to Yanela Mbuthuma to show what he can do on the pitch.
