Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has reportedly made his transfer priorities clear as the club continues to shape its squad for the new season. The French tactician wants the Amakhosi to strengthen four key attacking positions, with a striker, an offensive midfielder and two wingers identified as important additions to his plans.
Da Cruz is understood to have already communicated his preferred player profiles and names to the Kaizer Chiefs management. The coach wants to build an attacking unit capable of providing more creativity, pace and goals, while also giving the team different options depending on the opposition.
So far, two of the positions identified by the coach have been addressed. Kaizer Chiefs have secured two wingers, meaning that department can now be considered complete. The focus has therefore shifted towards the remaining two positions: an offensive midfielder and a striker.
Two Wingers – ✅
The arrival of two wingers is believed to be part of Da Cruz’s plan to add more pace and unpredictability to the team’s attack. The coach wants players who can stretch opposition defences, create chances and contribute directly to goals.
Offensive Midfielder – ⏳
The offensive midfield position remains one of the areas Chiefs are still expected to address. Da Cruz wants a player capable of operating between midfield and attack, creating opportunities and providing another source of creativity in the final third.
Striker – ⏳
The striker position is arguably the biggest remaining priority. Da Cruz has previously indicated that he wants another proven finisher who can add a different dimension to the attack and complement the existing options.
What makes the situation interesting is that the coach has reportedly already given management the names of the players he wants. This means Chiefs’ recruitment team may now be working behind the scenes to negotiate the necessary deals.
For Amakhosi supporters, attention will now turn to the next announcements. With two attacking positions already strengthened, the arrival of an offensive midfielder and striker could complete the attacking reinforcements Da Cruz requested.
If everything goes according to the club’s plans, Chiefs could soon have a much deeper and more versatile attacking unit heading into the new campaign.
