Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly showing interest in Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele, with the player once again attracting attention from one of the biggest clubs in South African football.
Cele has become an important part of the Chiefs setup, and his performances have continued to put him on the radar of clubs looking to strengthen their midfield options. Sundowns are believed to be monitoring the situation closely as they assess potential additions to their squad.
However, it appears Kaizer Chiefs have no intention of easily letting the midfielder go. The club are understood to value Cele highly and could look at ways of keeping him at Naturena, particularly given his importance to the team’s plans.
For Sundowns, signing Cele would represent a major statement. The midfielder brings energy, physicality and technical quality, qualities that could fit well into their style of play. However, convincing Chiefs to part ways with him could prove difficult.
At this stage, the interest does not necessarily mean a transfer is close. Discussions, negotiations and the player’s own preference would all play an important role should the situation develop further.
The big question now is whether Kaizer Chiefs can successfully keep hold of Cele or whether Sundowns will push harder to secure his services.
