State Lays Out Charges Against Polokwane Couple Over R1.75 Million Estate Funds
Polokwane — The State has laid out charges before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court against a couple accused of allegedly misappropriating funds from a deceased estate.
The court heard that accused number one, Attorney Charlotte Tibane-Nonyane, had been entrusted to act as an executor for clients who had passed away.
According to the State’s case, Tibane-Nonyane allegedly transferred approximately R1.75 million from a deceased estate. The prosecution further told the court that the funds were allegedly used by her husband of two years, TMPD Sergeant Peter Nonyane.
The State alleges that the couple subsequently secured the purchase of a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, valued at approximately R1.65 million, from McCarthy Mercedes-Benz Wonderboom in Pretoria.
The allegations place the luxury vehicle purchase at the centre of the State’s case as prosecutors seek to establish how the estate funds were allegedly transferred and ultimately used.
The matter is being heard in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court, where the State is presenting its case against the accused.
The couple remains accused, and the allegations have yet to be proven in court. They are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty by a competent court.
Further developments are expected as proceedings continue.
