Manqoba: Some Defenders Are Scared of Shalulile ⚽
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has suggested that some defenders struggle to deal with the threat posed by Peter Shalulile, with the striker’s movement and finishing making him a difficult opponent to contain.
According to Manqoba, the fear created by Shalulile’s presence can sometimes force defenders into costly mistakes — mistakes that can ultimately result in the striker being handed an opportunity to score.
«“Sometimes defenders are so scared that they find themselves rewarding him with goals.”»
Shalulile has built a reputation as one of the most dangerous forwards in South African football, particularly because of his ability to attack space, pressure defenders and remain a constant threat inside the box.
For defenders, dealing with his pace and movement requires concentration for the full 90 minutes. A single lapse can be enough for Shalulile to punish them.
Manqoba’s comments highlight just how much psychological pressure a striker of Shalulile’s quality can put on opposition defenders — sometimes without even needing to touch the ball. ⚽🔥
