Kaizer Chiefs Hold Talks With Norwegian Defender Ulrik Fredriksen
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly in discussions with Norwegian defender Ulrik Fredriksen as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
Sources indicate that Fredriksen is currently in Johannesburg and has been at Naturena, where discussions around a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have taken place. The talks are believed to be focused on a possible deal for the experienced central defender.
Fredriksen, 27, is currently on the books of Norwegian top-flight side Fredrikstad FK, where he has established himself as an important part of the team’s defence. The right-footed defender stands at 1.91 metres and can also operate at right-back and defensive midfield when required.
His current contract with Fredrikstad runs until 31 December 2026, according to Transfermarkt.
Impressive defensive experience
Fredriksen has considerable experience in the Norwegian Eliteserien. Fredrikstad’s official statistics show that he made 30 league appearances in 2025, playing 2,677 minutes and scoring twice. He was also the club’s leader for minutes played that season.
In the 2026 Eliteserien campaign, he has continued to feature regularly, recording 15 appearances, 1,317 minutes and one goal, with a 7.01 rating listed by FotMob.
The defender previously spent several seasons with FK Haugesund, where he made more than 100 appearances, before joining Fredrikstad in March 2025. Fredrikstad described him at the time as a physically strong centre-back and agreed a contract running through 2026.
Chiefs weighing up a deal
For Kaizer Chiefs, Fredriksen’s experience, physical presence and versatility could make him an attractive option as the club looks to reinforce its defensive department.
While discussions are reportedly taking place, no agreement has officially been announced yet, and it remains to be seen whether the talks at Naturena will lead to a completed transfer.
If a deal is reached, Fredriksen would bring valuable experience from European top-flight football to the Chiefs squad.
