Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Glody Lilepo has reportedly opened up about his difficult experience at Naturena, revealing that his financial situation made it extremely difficult for him to bring his family to South Africa.
According to the claims attributed to Lilepo, the player was earning around R55,000 per month during his time at Chiefs. He allegedly felt that the amount was not enough to comfortably relocate his family to South Africa and cover the costs that came with having them live with him.
“I was earning R55k and I couldn’t get my family to South Africa because I wasn’t paid enough,” Lilepo is claimed to have said.
The family situation reportedly became one of the biggest challenges during his stay in Johannesburg. Lilepo was allegedly also expecting the club to assist with visas for his family, something he claims was supposed to be provided at no cost.
The revelations add another layer to Lilepo’s departure from Kaizer Chiefs. Recent reports confirm that he left the club after 18 months and joined Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi. Chiefs confirmed his departure in August 2026 after he made 56 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists.
Lilepo has previously confirmed that he wanted an improvement to his salary, explaining that he believed he deserved an increase after becoming an important player in the team.
