Kaizer Chiefs have signed Witbooi from Cape Town City

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly completed a major deal to sign highly-rated South African youngster Emile Witbooi from Cape Town City, with the transfer said to be worth around R20 million.

The Amajimbos star has emerged as one of the country’s most exciting young talents, attracting significant attention with his performances on the international stage. His development has also caught the eye of several major clubs, highlighting the growing reputation surrounding the talented youngster.

Witbooi’s journey with Kaizer Chiefs is particularly interesting given that the club previously had an opportunity to assess him. According to his father, Surprise Ralani, Witbooi was on trial with Amakhosi at the age of 17. At the time, however, the club reportedly had concerns regarding his physical development and decided against immediately pursuing the move.

Since then, the midfielder has continued to develop and mature, proving that his potential extends well beyond his technical ability. His performances have now placed him firmly on the radar of some of the biggest clubs, with Bayern Munich also having previously given him an opportunity to train and showcase his qualities.

Chiefs’ reported decision to invest R20 million in Witbooi demonstrates their belief that he can become an important player for the club in the years ahead. The transfer would also represent a significant investment in young South African talent as Amakhosi look to build a squad capable of competing for major domestic honours.

For Witbooi, a move to Naturena would provide an opportunity to take the next major step in his career and establish himself at one of Africa’s most recognised football clubs.

If the reported agreement is completed as stated, the arrival of Emile Witbooi would undoubtedly be one of the biggest young-player signings in South African football, with expectations now set to rise around the exciting prospect.
