Orlando Pirates defender has decided to leave next season

Dion Hotto has reportedly informed Orlando Pirates management that he intends to leave the club at the end of next season, bringing an end to his time with the Buccaneers. The experienced player is understood to have made it clear that he will not renew his contract when it reaches its conclusion.

Hotto’s decision is said to have been carefully considered, with the player discussing his future with both his family and those close to his professional career. After those discussions, he has reportedly decided that the next season will be his final campaign with Orlando Pirates.

The news could come as a disappointment to Pirates supporters, considering Hotto’s experience, versatility and contribution to the team over the years. Since arriving at the club, he has been an important figure and has provided valuable options in different positions whenever called upon.

While his departure is not expected to happen immediately, the reported decision means that Orlando Pirates will have to begin preparing for life without the experienced campaigner. The club could use the coming season to identify a suitable replacement while allowing Hotto to complete his final chapter in the black and white colours.

For Hotto, the upcoming season could therefore carry additional significance. Knowing that it will be his final campaign with the Buccaneers, he will have an opportunity to give his best on the field and potentially finish his time at the club on a high.

There could also be interest in where Hotto will continue his career after leaving Orlando Pirates. His experience and understanding of South African football could make him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their squad with an established player.

For now, however, the focus remains on his final season at Orlando Pirates. Unless there is a change in circumstances, Hotto is expected to honour his remaining commitment before departing the club permanently.

The reported decision marks the beginning of the end of an important chapter in Hotto’s career at Pirates, with supporters potentially preparing to say goodbye to a player who has given the club several memorable moments. 💔✖️
